Aladi Johnson, commonly known as Tessy, was discovered unconscious in a hotel room in the Gwarinpa neighbourhood of Abuja with her hands bound behind her. The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has launched a covert inquiry into her unexplained death.
Public indignation and anxiety have been aroused by the unsettling episode, which came to light through a social media video that went viral.
On June 16, 2025, Tessy and an unnamed guy booked into the hotel on 3rd Avenue, Gwarinpa, according to a statement released on Wednesday by Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer.
Later on, though, the hotel workers realised that the male had left the building without her.
Adeh noted that during a routine service round, hotel personnel discovered Tessy unconscious and immediately alerted the Police.

She said, “Preliminary investigation reveals that the victim, later identified as Aladi Offikwu Johnson, also known as Tessy, a female from Benue State, checked into a hotel located at 3rd Avenue, Gwarinpa, on 16th June, 2025, in the company of an unidentified male who was later observed to have exited the premises without her.
When hotel employees found the victim unconscious during regular service rounds, they immediately called the police. A medical assessment verified her death.
Adeh stated that a comprehensive and private investigation into the circumstances surrounding the untimely murder was ordered by Ajao Adewale, the Commissioner of Police, FCT.
Adewale asked the people to maintain composure and give the police time to carry out a thorough investigation.

Additionally, he counselled young ladies to exercise caution while interacting with strangers and to notify trusted friends or family of their whereabouts for security purposes.
“The Commissioner advises young ladies to exercise caution in their interactions, especially with unfamiliar individuals, and to always share their whereabouts with trusted friends or family members for safety purposes, ” , the statement added.
