Yusuf Ibrahim Kasimu, a worker with the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), was slain by gunmen suspected of being assassins in Tudun Kauri area of Lafia, Nasarawa State.
The neighbourhood was reportedly rocked by the event, which happened close to the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS) building and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters.
The 37-year-old man was discovered face-down in a pool of blood with serious head injuries, according to witnesses. This suggests that he may have been attacked by those he tried to assist, who then reportedly attacked him and took his motorbike.

Until his family members showed there and verified it was Yusuf, no one knew who he was.
Speaking to reporters, the deceased’s uncle, Umaru Kasimu, denounced the murder and asked security forces to move quickly to apprehend those responsible.
“This loss is painful and inexplicable. Justice is what we want,” he declared.
