Following an attack on a bus on the Itobe–Anyagba Motorway in Kogi State, security analyst Zagazola Makama posted on X on Friday, stating that the incident occurred at approximately 4:20 p.m. close to Ogbabo Junction.

The attackers, who were thought to be armed thugs, abruptly emerged from the bush, fired shots, and forced the Peace Mass Transit bus to stop.

The post stated that while the driver, Sunday Okechi, and six passengers were able to escape, nine others were abducted by the attackers.

Security forces quickly responded to the scene, where they found the bus with registration number ENZ-55 XS and a blue Toyota Carina ‘E’ abandoned. Both vehicles have now been secured by the authorities.

Members of the security agencies, the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, and local hunters have started a search and rescue operation to free the kidnapped passengers and nab the gunmen.
