In the trial of Maimuna Idris, who is charged with severing her boyfriend’s genitalia, a Kano State High Court has started to hear testimony.
Ashiru Sani, the accused victim, was asked to testify by prosecution attorney Safiya Yalwati Yahaya at the hearing at the Audu Bako Secretariat court complex in Kano.
Sani informed the court that before the event, Idris allegedly gave him a medication known as diazepam, which he said caused him to lose consciousness.

The court dismissed the witness after hearing his testimony and postponed the matter until November 19, 2026, for another hearing.
The defendant had earlier pleaded not guilty to the allegation that she cut off Sani’s genitals in the relaxation room.
The trial is expected to continue on the next adjourned date.
