Bournemouth have shattered Manchester United in another show of ignominy following another 3-0 defeat suffered away at Bournemouth this afternoon. The Red Devils have now gone eight games in all competitions without a victory.
Rayan broke the deadlock in the 38th minute before Marcus Tavernier doubled Bournemouth’s lead five minutes later. Evanilson then sealed the victory in the 71st minute to complete the scoring.
Over the course of the game, Manchester United dominated possession with 62% against Bournemouth’s 38%. United recorded 12 shots compared to Bournemouth’s 10, with both teams registering four shots on target and five off target. However, Bournemouth recorded 2.20 expected goals (xG) against United’s 0.88 and created six big chances, while United failed to create any. United also recorded 22 touches in the opposition box, compared to Bournemouth’s 18.
Michael Carrick had decided to drop captain Bruno Fernandes to the bench following the Portuguese player’s questioning of his tactics during their 4-1 defeat to Como in the Champions League. Lisandro Martinez, who had earlier criticised the club’s management, was also not in the starting lineup, showing that there is major disunity in the team.
As things stand, Manchester United, who sit in 16th place, are just a point above the relegation zone.
