Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos, a Catholic priest, was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen in Kurmin Risga, Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

Around 12:15 a.m. on Thursday, suspected gunmen abducted the priest from his home at St. Gerald Quasi Parish in Kurmin Risga.

Even though he called the situation “deeply sad,” Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet, the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, acknowledged the kidnapping.

He called for prayers for the safe return of the cleric.

“We solicit your prayers for his quick and safe release,” Shanet said.

“We invite the general public to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands,” he added, stressing that every legitimate and available means will be deployed to ensure that the cleric returns unharmed and in good health.

As of the time this report was filed, DSP Mansir Hassan, the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, has not returned calls, therefore attempts to contact him were futile.
