Alex Otti, the governor of Abia State, has reaffirmed his 2020 remarks against the way former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi handled $155 million during his tenure.
When asked about the comment, Otti said that it was written on June 8, 2020, in an interview with Arise Television.
He said the remark was meant to show that public servants could manage government finances responsibly.

“They are referring to what I wrote in 2020. I think that was June 8, 2020. I was using it to prove that it’s still possible for people to be prudent in government.
“It’s an account of what happened. And I had said that as the CEO of the bank at that time, he was going to leave the money in naira, and when he came to me and I said no, this naira you want to keep, naira will keep losing value.

“So you probably want to convert it to dollars, and it was converted.
“So it’s a statement of fact, and it’s something that happened several years ago, six years ago. So I haven’t spoken again, and so that’s what they are referring to,” Otti said.
According to the Anambra State Government, former governors Peter Obi and Willie Obiano’s loans and other debts are still being paid off by Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s government.
Izuchukwu Okafor, the Commissioner for Finance, revealed this when outlining the state’s financial situation under the Soludo government in an Ndi Anambra podcast that Anambra State New Media posted on Monday.
According to Okafor, since taking office, the present administration has not taken out any loans from commercial banks, but it has continued to repay loans that were left over from earlier administrations.
“It’s on record, you know, that this administration has not borrowed a kobo from any commercial bank since the inception of this administration,” he said.
