Defending champions Arsenal have made a strong start to their 2026/27 Premier League title defence after defeating Coventry City 3-0 in an emphatic opening-day victory.
The Gunners wasted little time making their dominance count, with Kai Havertz opening the scoring just 15 minutes into the first half.
Five minutes later, Bukayo Saka doubled Arsenal’s advantage, putting the hosts firmly in control as they headed into the break with a 2-0 lead.
Arsenal continued to dictate proceedings after the restart, with captain Martin Ødegaard adding a third goal in the second half to seal a comfortable 3-0 victory.
The Gunners dominated possession throughout the encounter, enjoying 64% of the ball compared to Coventry’s 36%. Arsenal also registered 20 total shots, with six on target, while Coventry managed four shots and just one on target.
The emphatic victory sees Arsenal move to the top of the Premier League table after Matchday One, giving the defending champions the perfect start to their title defence.
