Brighton and Hove Albion’s trio of manager Fabian Hurzeler, Pascal Gross and Lewis Dunk have swept the Premier League’s September awards.
Hurzeler was named Manager of the Month, Gross won the Player of the Month award, while Dunk’s spectacular strike against Coventry City earned him the Goal of the Month award.
Hurzeler guided Brighton through an unbeaten campaign in September, beating Coventry City 5-0 and champions Arsenal 3-0 at the Amex, following a 1-1 draw against Leeds United at the start of the month.
It is the second time Hurzeler has been named Manager of the Month, having previously won the award in August 2024.
The Brighton manager praised the club’s supporters and his players for their contribution to the team’s impressive start to the season.
Albion are third in the Premier League table, with their campaign resuming away at Sunderland on October 10 after the international break.
“No matter if we play at home, no matter if we play away, they always support us. They create a special environment,” Hurzeler said.
“We started building this connection and creating this environment and this atmosphere last season and we all could feel it in the game against Arsenal.
“The fans were singing, cheering and supporting us. They are loud and that’s massive for us, and really creates this fortress we want to have at home.
“I really have to praise the character of my players as well. No matter what the situation is, they keep going and they try to find a solution. In adversity they really stick together and go through it as a team.
“You can’t educate these things all the time. You can’t build them. It’s a lot about character.”
Meanwhile, Gross won the Premier League Player of the Month award for September, while Dunk’s thunderous effort against Coventry City was named Goal of the Month.
Dunk’s spectacular strike made him the fifth Brighton player to win the Premier League Goal of the Month award.
Kaoru Mitoma has won the award three times, while Carlos Baleba, Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Anthony Knockaert have also previously claimed it.
Gross, meanwhile, became the first Brighton player to win the Premier League Player of the Month award.
The midfielder enjoyed an impressive month, scoring two goals and providing three assists. No other player matched his combined total of five goals and assists during the month, helping Brighton climb to third in the table.
Brighton conceded just once in the league in September. They defeated Coventry City 5-0 before producing a 3-0 victory over Arsenal at the Amex in the club’s 125th anniversary match.
Gross scored and provided an assist in the victory over Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. He now has four goals in all competitions this season.
