Former Barcelona Legend and Chelsea Player Pedro Rodriguez has announced his retirement from professional football at 39 after making the disclosure on his social Media Page.
In a short video shared on X, Pedro wrote:
“I feel that the time has come.
The time to take a step forward and begin a new stage in my life.
I leave proud of having lived my dream and of all the people who were by my side to make it come true.
Thank you, soccer, for making me so happy.”
Pedro made 794 club appearances for Barcelona, Chelsea, Roma and Lazio and scored 197 goals across his senior career, while representing Spain 65 times and scoring 17 goals. His most productive spell came at Barcelona, where he made 321 appearances and scored 99 goals, while at Chelsea he played 206 games and scored 43 goals.
He finished his career with an impressive collection of honours winning 25 major trophies, including three UEFA Champions League titles, five La Liga titles, three Copa del Rey trophies, four Spanish Super Cups, three UEFA Super Cups and two FIFA Club World Cups with Barcelona. At Chelsea, he won the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League, while with Spain he lifted the 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2012.
