Hamburger SV confirmed the signing after the 27-year-old Nigerian completed his mandatory medical examinations at the Athleticum at the Volkspark last weekend before signing his contract.
Moffi will wear the number 9 shirt at the German club as he begins a new chapter in his career.
Hamburger sporting board member Kathleen Krüger said Moffi fits the club’s approach and will provide more options and versatility in the centre-forward position.
“Terem is an excellent fit for our approach. With his signing, we are giving ourselves even more options and versatility in the centre-forward position and further increasing the quality of our squad,” Krüger said.
Sporting director Claus Costa also praised the Nigerian striker’s physicality, determination and ability to attack spaces behind defenders.
“Terem is a striker who is difficult to contain because of his physicality, determination and style of play. He is capable of attacking the space in behind, has an enormous presence in the penalty area and possesses the necessary defensive qualities,” Costa said.
Moffi joins Hamburg after spells in Lithuania, Belgium, France and Portugal, with Germany becoming the seventh country in which he has played football.
The forward began his professional career in Lithuania with FK Kauno Žalgiris before moving to FK Riteriai. He later joined Belgian side KV Kortrijk in January 2020 before moving to French club FC Lorient later that year.
In January 2023, Moffi joined Nice, where he continued to establish himself as one of Nigeria’s prominent attacking players. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Portuguese giants FC Porto.

Across his club career, Moffi has recorded 88 goals and 13 assists in 228 competitive appearances.
The striker has also been a full Nigeria international since 2021, making 23 appearances and scoring six goals, while providing two assists for the Super Eagles.
Speaking about his decision to join Hamburg, Moffi revealed that the club’s coach played an important role in convincing him to make the move.
“The coach was really very convincing in our conversations. The location, with its fantastic fans, and the club’s overall direction also played a role in my decision,” Moffi said.
The Nigerian striker also revealed that his father was excited when he told him about Hamburg’s interest.
“Even though HSV spent a few years in the second division, the club is still a big name, and that is the case all over the world. When I told my father about the club’s interest, he immediately knew which club I was talking about and was really excited,” he added.
Moffi is now expected to begin his new challenge in Germany as he looks to make an impact in the Bundesliga and strengthen Hamburg’s attacking options.
