Karolina Muchova and Jakub Mensik have won the 2026 US Open mixed doubles title after the Czech pair defeated Belinda Bencic and Flavio Cobolli 6-3, 1-6, [10-6] in the final at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York on Wednesday night.
The victory comes with a $1 million prize for the winning team, meaning Muchova and Mensik will share $500,000 each for claiming the title. The runners-up, Bencic and Cobolli, will split $500,000.
Muchova and Mensik had already survived a tense semifinal against Mirra Andreeva and Andrey Rublev earlier in the day. The Czechs saved two match points at 7-9 in the deciding tiebreak before taking the final four points to win 11-9.
They carried that momentum into the final, racing ahead in the championship tiebreak after the match was level at one set apiece. From 1-1, the Czech pair won three straight points and stayed in control before Mensik sealed their victory with an ace on their third championship point.
The triumph gives both players their first Grand Slam title in any discipline. For Mensik, it adds another major achievement to what has already been an impressive year at just 20 years old.
“I didn’t expect this before the tournament, but it’s such great fun. It was amazing to play and start the US Open like that,” Mensik said after the victory.
The Czech duo also caught attention with their matching outfits throughout the two-day competition, with both players wearing pink tops and maroon bottoms.
Muchova joked during the trophy ceremony that the matching outfits may have played a role in their success.
“I think in the end, the matching outfits made the difference for us,” she said.
For Mensik, the mixed doubles title adds to a breakthrough summer that saw him reach his first Grand Slam singles semifinal at Roland Garros in June. He also defeated Rublev in the fourth round on his way to the last four.
Muchova, meanwhile, returned to the Grand Slam winners’ circle after a difficult moment at Wimbledon last month, where she lost a three-set final to fellow Czech Linda Noskova.
Now, both players will look to carry the confidence from their mixed doubles triumph into the singles events of the 2026 US Open.
