The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Ibrahim Gusau, and members of the NFF Executive Committee have reportedly resigned from their respective positions, according to Brila Radio.
The development also comes shortly after the NFF released the report of its Fact-Finding Committee, which examined Nigeria’s recent struggles in international football, including the Super Falcons’ WAFCON exit and the failure to qualify for the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
According to Brila:
“NFF President Ibrahim Gusau and members of the NFF Executive Committee have reportedly resigned.
The development comes after weeks of mounting pressure on the federation’s leadership, following a series of setbacks involving Nigeria’s national teams.
Gusau is scheduled to address journalists today at 12 noon at the NFF headquarters, Abuja where he’s expected to announce his resignation, according to reports.”
The comes amid growing pressure from the Nigeria Sports Commission and the Federal Government following the poor performances of the Super Falcons at the recently concluded 2026 Africa Women’s Nations Cup in Morocco, where they were eliminated in the quarter-finals.
The quarter-final exit marked the Super Falcons’ poorest campaign in the history of the competition and was followed by their failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil which will be the first time in history the team will not be participating in a FIFA World Cup.
The Super Eagles had also previously failed to qualify for the men’s FIFA World Cup, further increasing calls from sports stakeholders, government officials and football fans for the NFF’s leadership to be investigated over the national teams’ recent struggles.
Gusau is expected to address journalists at the NFF headquarters in Abuja at 12 noon, where he is reportedly expected to speak on the development.
