Barcelona’s team for Thursday’s Champions League encounter against Newcastle United does not include winger Lamine Yamal.
After Barcelona manager Hansi Flick questioned Yamal’s playing time for Spain during the international break, the 18-year-old missed his team’s victory over Valencia on Sunday due to a groin injury.
On September 4, Yamal played 79 minutes in a 3-0 victory in Bulgaria, and three days later, he played 73 minutes in a 6-0 triumph in Turkey.

Barcelona defeated Valencia 6-0 without him, and they haven’t included the forward in their roster for the Champions League opener at St. James’ Park this season.
Additionally, missing are Spain midfielder Gavi (knee) and left-back Alejandro Balde (hamstring).
Frenkie de Jong, a midfielder for the Netherlands, is available for the Newcastle encounter but missed the Valencia game after playing for his country.
Before losing to Inter Milan, Barcelona advanced to the Champions League semifinals and won La Liga the previous season.
