The recently deceased Nollywood actress, Ademola Allwell, has been laid to rest in Lagos.
Ademola, 49, passed away at home following a heart attack. She was reportedly taken to the hospital, where her death was confirmed.
The Nollywood community, where she was admired for her talent and decades-long efforts, was rocked by her passing.
The first significant gathering for grief and contemplation took place on Thursday at Lagos State Television’s Blueroof auditorium in Ikeja with a sombre service of songs.
The solemn atmosphere quickly gave way to a candlelight procession as a public show of respect following the indoor event.
The burial service was held at the Atan cemetery in the Yaba area of Lagos on Friday.
At the graveside, clergymen led the gathering in hymns and prayers for the departed. Family members were also invited to sprinkle sand upon the coffin as a final farewell.
Among the Nollywood stars present were Toyin Abraham, Afeez Owo, Saidi Balogun, Yetunde Wunmi, and Adedoyin Kukoyi.

The late Allwell Ademola was celebrated as one of Nollywood’s most versatile talents — an acclaimed actress, writer, and director.
She began acting in her youth but rose to prominence as a professional actress in 2008. From then on, she appeared in numerous films, including ‘Ile Wa’, ‘Third Eye’, ‘Murder At The Bar’ and ‘Mimi’s Voice’.

Nkanu Nnamdi, one of the twin boys of renowned author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and her spouse Ivara Esege, is no more.
The Communications Team for Adichie confirmed the death on Wednesday in a statement that was shared exclusively with The Guardian and signed by Omawumi Ogbe.
Nkanu passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, following a brief illness, according to the statement. His age was twenty-one months.
The family called the loss “devastating” and requested that the public and media maintain their privacy during what they characterised as an extremely trying period.
They also requested prayers and understanding as they mourn in private, adding that no further statements would be made.
The statement ended by thanking members of the public and the media for respecting the family’s need for seclusion during the period of grief.
