Nigerian musician Charles Chibueze Chukwu, better known by his stage name Crayon, has talked candidly about his previous battle with mental health and how he overcame it.
Crayon revealed that he experienced mental health problems in 2022 as a result of pressure from his family and the music industry during a livestream with Caterefe on Thursday night.
He clarified that he was under a great deal of stress because he was attempting to fulfil his obligations to his family and secure a prominent position in the music business.
The music star stated he was hospitalised for therapy for a long time after which he returned with the hit songs ‘Labalaba’ and ‘Overloading’.

Crayon said, “In 2022, I had mental health issues from all sort of stress; family, industry, trying to be number one stress. I was hospitalised for a long therapy session, then I came out and dropped Labalaba and Overloading.”

Crayon has talked candidly about his relationship with Tiwa Savage, admitting that he formerly harboured a deep infatuation with her.
In 2018, Crayon, who was previously signed to Savage’s former label, Mavin Records, claimed to have introduced him to “Backy,” a blend of illegal substances including cannabis, tramadol, codeine, or rohypnol.
He described how Savage asked if he smoked, and when he said that he did, she gave him the blunt.
Speaking in a candid interview with streamer Caterefe, Crayon disclosed that since then he became addicted to “Backy.”
“Tiwa Savage was my crush in 2018, she gave me my first Backy. She asked me if I smoked. I said yes mama I smoke, and she handed it to me. Since then, I started smoking Backy,” he stated.
