Afrobeats musician Davido has stated that he will soon stop performing music in order to concentrate on earning billions.
He made this statement in response to a post made on X by Nigerian artist Erigga.
In a post, Erigga praised musicians who had to work hard for every dollar they made and did not hail from privileged homes.
“Shoutout to all the musicians who don’t come from family money and had to grind for every single dollar they earn,” Erigga wrote.
Davido disagreed with the message, saying musicians who came from family money could also work hard to reach the top.
“No be we say make your pops no guard o. Shoutout to the ones that came from family money and still grind to the top,” he responded.
The singer then described Erigga’s message as “useless motivation” and called him an “imbecile.”
Davido went on to say he would soon leave music to pursue his financial goals.

Nigerian content creator and streamer Carter Efe has explained how Afrobeats star Davido helped him earn the most money of his life through a livestream.
Carter said he discussed his streaming career, his friendship with Davido, and the growth of digital content creation in Nigeria in a recent episode of the Cocktails & Takeaways podcast.
He claimed that Davido’s involvement in one of his livestreams drew a sizeable viewership and greatly raised his income.
”Davido made me the biggest amount of money of my life on a stream in one night. I became a big boy overnight,” he said.
Carter’s remarks underscore the expanding financial prospects accessible to Nigerian content producers via digital platforms, livestreaming, and partnerships with well-known entertainers.
Davido and Carter participated in a Twitch livestream in December 2025 that apparently had over 80,000 concurrent viewers.
Carter’s following and subscribers on the platform are said to have significantly increased as a result of the appearance.
Carter Efe, whose full name is Oderhohwo Efe, rose to fame in comedy and music before branching out into internet entertainment and livestreaming.
The expansion of Nigeria’s digital creative economy has given young people new ways to make money, start their own businesses, and find work. It has also made it possible to present Nigerian talent and culture to audiences around the world.
Social media and digital platforms have become even more important in Nigeria’s entertainment sector as a result of the development, allowing producers to monetise their fans and work with well-known companies and musicians.
