David Adeleke, aka Davido, has asserted that no one can defeat him in a free and fair election if he chooses to run for political office in Nigeria.
However, he stated that because Nigerian elections and the electoral body are crooked, he is not interested in running for any elective office.
Davido stated that he would concentrate on creating songs till there is election transparency in Nigeria during a recent broadcast with streamer Carter Efe.
The host asked: “Would you love to govern a state?”
Davido replied: “Nigeria wey dem dey write result? I no get time for all those ones. Because I no be all those ones wey you go cheat me, I go go sleep for house. I will do something to you If you cheat me.
“Let me just focus on my music until there is transparency then I can go ahead and contest for elective positions. Nobody can beat me in any election, never! In a free and fair election, I can win presidential election in Nigeria.

“But because of the system, there is no transparency, they write results. I waiting to see what they will do in the upcoming Osun gubernatorial election. We are wailing.”
Davido has talked candidly about his first bad encounter as a celebrity and how it damaged his mental state to the point where he considered suicide
In a recent episode of the Vibe Podcast, Davido talked about how a woman he stayed with in a hotel took a picture of him when he was fast asleep and shared it on social media, which caused his fans and family to react negatively.
He clarified that he didn’t know how to handle celebrity or set limits with women while having fun, because he was young and innocent at the time.
“The incident happened about two months after I became famous. I have two hit songs popping everywhere. So, we went to a show in Ghana and the reception was crazy. I was just something new. I was excited. Every week, we were going higher on the charts.People & Society
“We went to the club and I was excited to see how the ladies love me. I was my first time to take a lady to my hotel room. I remember it was a great night and then I slept off. All of sudden, I heard a bang on my door, it was my manager. He told me to calm down and I asked what was he talking about.
“It turns out that a lady posted me sleeping. Daddy was calling me. My sisters were calling me. If I saw balcony that day, I would have jumped… I was young and I liked woman too much,” Davido recalled.
He added that the experience taught him how to protect his reputation as a celebrity and set boundaries.
