Yan Diomande has officially been unveiled by Real Madrid after completing a record €140.4 million transfer from RB Leipzig, making him the most expensive African player in football history.
Los Blancos announced the signing of their long-term summer target after reaching an agreement with the German club, with the 19-year-old Ivorian putting pen to paper on a seven-year contract.
Real Madrid confirmed the deal in a statement:
“Real Madrid C.F. and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Yan Diomande, who will be linked to our club for the next seven seasons, until June 30, 2033.”
RB Leipzig also confirmed the transfer, highlighting the youngster’s impressive performances during his time at the club.

The 19-year-old joins the Spanish record champions after an impressive season with the Red Bulls.
36 competitive appearances, 13 goals and 10 assists for RB Leipzig.”
Diomande’s €140.4 million move surpasses the previous African transfer record held by fellow Ivorian Nicolas Pépé, whose move from Lille to Arsenal in 2019 was worth €90 million, including add-ons.
Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen remains the only African player to complete two consecutive transfers worth at least €75 million each:
Lille → Napoli: Up to €80 million (including add-ons)
Napoli → Galatasaray: €75 million
