Reports that Nollywood icon Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has passed away have been refuted by the actor’s family.
Haleemah Taiwo, the actor’s daughter, responded to the widely shared information on her Instagram page by cautioning people against disseminating unreliable information.
She wrote, “This is fake. Please stop spreading fake news.”
Less than a day has passed since Haleemah asked the public for assistance in the wake of her father’s fight with stage 4 cancer.
Noting that the actor’s chemotherapy treatment has been discontinued by the hospital, she encouraged anyone who could assist with herbal or advanced medical treatment to get in touch with her.
Leading the appeal for assistance was actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo, who asked Nigerians and medical professionals to help the family locate doctors and healthcare facilities that might assess Ogogo’s condition.

“Please let’s rally around our beloved Sir Taiwo Hassan, who is currently facing a serious health challenge, battling cancer.
“As shared by his family, they are NOT looking for money or financial support. What they urgently need is medical direction.
“If you know someone who knows someone in the oncology space, or a medical avenue that can assist, please help reach out to his family immediately,“ Adebayo wrote on X.
Actress Toyin Abraham also joined the campaign on Tuesday, sharing a video of Ogogo’s daughters on Instagram and appealing to those who could assist to contact the family.
“Pls kindly send dm to @kira_taiwo @limataiwo_ or me pls. Anyhow, anyone can help ejoor,” she wrote.
In a widely shared Instagram video on Monday night, Ogogo’s daughter Shaki Taiwo made a plea for her father’s medical care.
Shaki had disclosed that because of the seriousness of his condition, the hospital had halted his therapy.
With an acting career spanning over 40 years, Ogogo, 66, is one of the most well-known veterans of Yoruba cinema.
He is still well-known in the Nigerian film business and has been in hundreds of films.
