Actress and former Big Brother Naija star Bisola Aiyeola has openly discussed the 2018 death of her daughter Leyla’s father, characterising it as an unpleasant and unanticipated loss.
Bisola described how he passed away while in the hospital due to an illness in an interview on Ife Agoro’s show.
He sounded better and confirmed plans to leave the hospital on Friday during a phone chat, she added, which gave the family hope after the doctors established a discharge date.

A few days later, someone using his phone called to let her know he had died.
Bisola said the news left her, her mother, and her sister devastated. At the time, Leyla was eight years old, and the actress described telling her daughter about the loss as one of the most difficult moments of her life.

She also noted that he had remained an active presence in Leyla’s life and regularly checked on her.
“It was a heartbreaking experience. He died in August 2018. He was sick and had been on admission in the hospital. My mother, I, Leyla and my sister went to visit him in the hospital, and he died on Friday. We had even spoken over the phone, and he was sounding better and said he would be discharged on Friday. Someone later called me on his phone from the hospital and said he was no more,” she wrote.
In July 2025, ex-housemates of Africa’s biggest reality show, BBNaija, from across various seasons, are speaking on how the show skyrocketed their careers.
The former housemates spoke separately in a sideline interview at the reality show host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu’s birthday party in Lagos recently.
“It [BBNaija] definitely made me a TV presenter. I was never going to be doing this. It was not in my trajectory. I was a lawyer, and I was going to be practicing somewhere today. But I went into the Big Brother house and discovered that I have this thing about speaking. Without BBNaija, I wouldn’t have a career in television today,” he said.
On her part, actress Bisola Aiyeola said she knew she was going to be successful in the entertainment industry even without going on Big Brother Naija, but admitted that the reality show fast-tracked her success.
“Big Brother Naija escalated the success that I knew I was going to have either way, but the reality show took it like zillion steps faster to the top,” she said.
