Nigeria’s quest for reliable electricity gets a massive boost as the Federal Government sets its sights on a game-changing hydropower dam in Limpye, Plateau State a project engineered to increase the national grid with clean, sustainable energy.
Minister of Water Resources Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev confirmed the plan during an on-ground assessment in Plateau The project is not all just about water; it is about power.
The proposed dam will harness regional waterways to generate megawatts of hydroelectricity for the North-Central zone, while simultaneously driving irrigation, securing potable water, and unlocking hundreds of jobs for local women and youth.
While Limpye awaits FEC approval, the 90%-complete Mangu Dam is on the brink of commissioning. With complementary projects along the Sokoto–Badagry corridor and active rehabilitation at Alau Dam.
The Tinubu administration is aggressively tackling Nigeria’s energy deficits head-on.
These strategic investments will transform Plateau into an emerging hydropower hub, reaffirming a future where more electricity power will be available as sustainable power drives national prosperity
