Elijah Innocent, 24, has been sent in correctional detention by a Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, for allegedly raping a 19-year-old girl.
Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, the prosecuting officer, informed the court that the alleged offence was in violation of Section 265(1) of the Ekiti State Criminal Law, 2021.
The case file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecution, or DPP, for legal review and additional instructions, Oriyomi added.

Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun, who was presiding over the case, ordered that the defendant be placed under arrest and postponed it until July 8 for additional discussion.
