The suspicious deaths of four family members have left the people of Chatta village in Borno State’s Hawul Local Government Area in sadness.
Yakubu Samanja, his wife Esther Yakubu, and their two kids, Amos and Maryamu Yakubu, have been named as the victims.
The catastrophe may have been triggered by harmful fumes from a generator, according to locals.

Ibrahim Samanja, a relative of the victims, claimed that after banging on their door several times without receiving a response, he found the dead on Tuesday morning..
“I arrived there around 7am, I kept knocking and there was no response, that made me suspicious, so I forced the door open and I found them dead,” he said.
Local officials and health personnel were contacted immediately, but later confirmed their deaths.
The corpses were sent to Marama General Hospital for further investigations.
Community members described the tragedy as a great loss especially that the family had shown no signs of illness or distress before the incident.
Preliminary investigations showed no signs of violence or struggle, which further supports the suspicion that generator fumes may have been the cause.
Borno State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Nahum Daso, confirmed the incident and said investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of death
