Actress Iyabo Ojo has talked candidly about her choice to let her ex-husband attend their daughter’s wedding.
According to The Nation, Priscilla married in April 2025, with several ceremonies held in Tanzania and Lagos.
In an interview with Morayo Afolabi-Brown, the actress stated that her desire to disrupt ancestral norms and her belief in them influenced her decision.
Iyabo mentioned that she didn’t want her kids to go through what her parents had.

The mother of two said she had made up her mind that her children would not be impacted by the difficulties in her own marriage.
According to her, she paid the price to ensure her daughter succeeds and is happy in marriage.

She added that since her daughter’s father is alive, there was no reason he should not be present at the wedding.
She further explained that the issues between her and her ex-husband had nothing to do with their daughter, and he had not wronged the child.
“So I don’t know there’s something called ancestral curses, and we Africans believe it. I believe if you don’t want something to continue, you have to be able to break it. I made up my mind that whatever situation had happened caused my dad, my mom, also, you know, were not together- yeah, every mistake they had made that I have made, my children will not make it.
“I have paid the price for her to succeed, for her to be happy in her marriage; her father is not dead; he’s alive, so why can’t he be there. He didn’t wrong her; he and I fell out, and it has nothing to do with her,” she said.
