The Indomitable Lionesses claim their first ever Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title after a remarkable run in Morocco by defeating Malawi by 3-0 in the final of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Rabat.
The Indomitable Lionesses put together a strong campaign to reach the final and eventually lifted the trophy for the first time, dethroning the Super Falcon as African champions.
Cameroon’s journey to the final was far from straightforward. After making it through the group stage, the Indomitable Lionesses faced defending champions Nigeria in the quarter-finals. Myriam Maéva Nyadjou Wamen gave Cameroon an early lead in the 19th minute, and they held on to secure a 1–0 victory, knocking the Super Falcons out of the tournament
They then faced hosts Morocco in the semi-finals. The game ended 0-0 after extra time before Cameroon won 3-1 on penalties to reach the final.
In the final, Cameroon were too strong for Malawi, scoring three goals to secure a comfortable victory and lift the trophy for the first time.
It was a long-awaited title for Cameroon, who had previously reached the WAFCON final three times, in 2004, 2014 and 2016, losing all three to Nigeria.
Their victory also made Cameroon only the fourth country to win the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, after Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea and South Africa.
Several of their players also received individual awards after their impressive campaign.
After an outstanding competition, Monique Ngock is crowned the TotalEnergies Woman of the Competition.
