Reality star and former Big Brother Naija winner Phyna has knocked out Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing in the fourth round of the women’s bout at “Chaos in the Ring” in Lagos.
The fight was held at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Resort, in the early hours of Friday, October 2, as part of the Independence Day celebrations. The bout was billed as a way to settle their social media dispute in the ring.
After the win, Phyna received a car and a ceremonial ₦50 million cheque. She also revealed that she had planned to play around for the first three rounds before getting serious in the fourth round.
Everything started when Nkechi questioned Phyna’s frequent involvement in online fights and advised her to calm down and be more careful. Phyna responded by asking why the actress was addressing her publicly, saying they had previously spoken about working on a movie project. According to Phyna, those discussions ended after they disagreed over how quickly she responded.
The fight was announced shortly after, with Nkechi sharing the poster on Instagram and challenging Phyna to put her money on her, saying, “put your money on me.”
Things got heated before the fight. At the press conference, the two exchanged insults, while Phyna threw a raw egg at Nkechi’s face. Nkechi responded by throwing a plastic water bottle at her. The promoter later said the rivalry had become personal.
After her victory, Phyna called out actress Etinosa Idemudia for her next fight, claiming that Etinosa had been in her DMs and saying she wanted to beat her in the ring. Apparently, this is the first time the series has featured female celebrity fighters.
