Popular gospel singer Chidinma Ekile has revealed she was planning to obtain permanent residency abroad before returning to Nigeria and transitioning from secular music to the gospel genre.
Speaking at a recent Eezee Conceptz event, Chidinma explained that her plan to secure permanent residency failed while abroad.
She revealed that while she was abroad, the CEO of Eezee Conceptz was the only person calling her from Nigeria, so she decided to work with him upon her return.

“I travelled. I ran away from Nigeria. I was processing my papers not to come back to Nigeria, but for some reason, it didn’t work.
“While I was abroad, the CEO of Eezee Conceptz was the only one who was calling me from Nigeria. He kept encouraging me, and I found the strength to come back to Nigeria.

When I came back, I asked him for a gospel music contract because I wanted to spend time with God. And he gave me a contract that even my lawyer said seemed like a charity,” Chidinma stated.
The music star added that she didn’t transition into gospel music because she wanted to make gospel, but because she wanted a serious relationship with God.
In July 2025, Chidinma Ekile opened up about how she almost lost her life when she went for a personal prayer retreat.
The former Project Fame winner revealed that she spent 40 days in isolation, seeking divine direction and undergoing intense spiritual experiences. She described the period as emotionally turbulent, marked by fervent prayer and profound internal struggle.
Chidinma disclosed that she spent her nights outdoors, expressing herself to God through music and prayer. She characterised the experience as intensely personal and noted that it brought an unprecedented awareness of God’s presence.
During her time on the mountain, Miss Kedike, as she was formerly known, recounted a particularly harrowing episode in which she felt spiritually vulnerable and was confronted by a dark force.
She described standing at the edge of a cliff, urged by a compelling voice to jump. However, she said an invisible force intervened and blocked her path, ultimately preventing what could have been a fatal act.
