The Nigerian musician Seyi Shay, whose real name is Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua, has disclosed that she was formerly a member of the Illuminati.
Seyi Shay’s revelation is one of the few instances in which an artist has openly acknowledged having ties to the contentious secret society, despite long-standing allegations to the contrary.
The “Yolo Yolo” singer disclosed that her affiliation with the Illuminati was a stage in her career during an interview with Gbemi and Toolz on the OffAir Podcast.

“That’s when I was in the Illuminati. When I joined the Illuminati. That’s when it was official. Do you understand? I was an Illuminati member,” she said.
She further explained that while fans may not know much about such connections, people within the entertainment industry often recognize those who were once linked to the group.
“It’s not the fans, guys. It’s the people in the industry… the ones who work with me, work with her, work with that one,” she added.

Seyi Shay has underlined the value of a father figure in a girl child’s development.
According to the singer, many ladies who have a father figure in their lives as children are more stable and have higher morals than those who don’t.
According to her, the idea that “men are not important” is really a ruse to further fragment families.
“Most women who have a father figure in their lives are generally more stable. They had a lot more access to good education and good morals growing up than those who don’t.
“Also, there is a bar when they want to get married or when they choose male friends. All these narratives of men are not important is bullsh*t because that’s just an agenda for more divisions in our homes so that we can churn out more broken souls and more lost females and males.”
The 39-year-old singer said she is grateful she didn’t have a daughter in her 20s, stressing that she now has the experience and capacity to raise a child better.
Seyi Shay explained that with her experience, she would be able to guide her daughter as not to make the same mistakes she made when it comes to men, friendship, and other endeavours.
