Nigerian Juju and highlife singer Iyun Janet Oluwatoyosi Ajilore, aka St. Janet, is dead.
The artist died on Saturday, July 1, 2026, after a brief illness.
Otunba Femi Davies, a Nigerian publisher and socialite, announced the singer’s passage on Sunday morning in a Facebook post.
“St. Janet (Iyun Janet Ajilore), a popular Nigerian Juju and Highlife musician known for her vibrant live performances, energetic stage presence and socially unfiltered party tracks, is dead. She died after a brief illness on Saturday,” he wrote.
St. Janet gained a devoted following both domestically and internationally in the Juju music scene thanks to her distinctive style and exuberant performances.
In July, British pop singer Lauren Bennett, 36, passed away. She was best known for her vocals on the 2011 hit “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO.
G.R.L., Lauren’s female group, announced on Monday in an official statement posted on its Instagram account.

Expressing its sorrow, the band said “Our hearts are broken. We can’t begin to express how much she meant to us. We will forever cherish the love, laughter and countless memories she gave us.
“Rest peacefully, sweet Lauren. You will always be in our hearts.”

Meanwhile, the singer’s cause of death has not been determined. USA TODAY reports that Kent and Medway Coroner records indicate that an inquest into her death’s circumstances is set for October.
Seasoned Nigerian comedian and filmmaker Okiki Adesina, aka Janmole, has passed away.
According to reports, the actor passed away in a horrific auto accident.
Bolaji Amusan, also known as Mr Latin, is a filmmaker and president of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, or TAMPAN. On his Instagram page, he made the devastating announcement.
“May the soul of our departed colleague, Adesina Okiki Janmole, who tragically lost his life in an accident, rest in perfect peace.
“May God grant his family, friends, and colleagues the strength and comfort to bear this irreparable loss. He will be greatly missed. Amen,” he wrote.
Okiki Adesina died nearly four years after escaping a fire accident along the Lagos-Ibadan motorway.
