Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, from the Ogwashi-Uku community in Delta State, has given her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, a 48-hour deadline to accept the bride price paid for her marriage or face a customary proclamation that would officially dissolve the union.
In an open letter signed by Favour Awele Obi on behalf of the community, the senator was accused of “disregarding local customs” and reportedly using his political position to threaten Regina’s family members.
The kinsmen claim that their custom permits any lady to dissolve her marriage as long as her family reimburses the bridal payment.

They alleged that multiple attempts to return the payment had been turned down by Nwoko, warning that if he rejects it again, the money would be publicly placed at Ikeleke Quarter, a symbolic act that, under Ogwashi-Uku custom, signifies the dissolution of the marriage.
The letter denounced the reported arrest of Regina’s siblings, characterizing it as an oppressive act.
It added that Regina’s family is calling for the immediate release of the detained individuals.
