The funeral plans for the late gospel musician, Bunmi Akinnanu, aka Omije Ojumi, have been cancelled.
In an Instagram post, her coworker Lanre Alewilese announced the development.
Alewilese, speaking on behalf of the planning committee, stated that a significant factor in the cancellation was the singer’s family’s ongoing issue.
“This is to inform you that all burial plans of our Late Sister & Colleague, Bunmi Akinnaanu has been CANCELLED over issues arising within her family. We’re deeply sorry for inconveniences”, Alewilese said.
The committee earlier announced that the deceased will be laid to rest on Wednesday, January 20, 2026.
Just last week, the news of the death of Bunmi Akinnanu surfaced online.
A close source acquainted with the singer’s family confirmed the news of her passing on Tuesday night.
The family has not yet issued an official statement, but further information is anticipated in the days ahead.

A video of the singer at G.F. David Ministries in Ibadan, Oyo State, in late 2025 became viral online. It showed her sitting with her leg outstretched while people prayed for her healing.
The footage drew widespread attention and concern over the severity of her condition.
During the service, the presiding cleric revealed that Akinnanu had been experiencing persistent bleeding in her leg. This prompted an intense prayer session.
The video quickly went viral, with fans and well-wishers across Nigeria organising prayer vigils and flooding social media with messages of support.
Over the years, she released several other gospel tracks, earning her recognition as one of the respected voices in the Nigerian gospel music industry.
