Two brothers, Ajala Idowu and Ajala Maruf, have been taken into custody by Osun State police officers for stealing two motorbikes in Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government Area.

Mohammed Umar Abba, the Osun State Commissioner of Police, revealed this in a statement released on Thursday by Abiodun Ojelabi, the Public Relations Officer for the Osun State Police Command.

According to the statement, the siblings were arrested after complaints from people living in Ikirun’s Maboreje neighbourhood, as well as after investigators received a tip and conducted an intelligence-led investigation.

When questioned, the brothers admitted that they used Ajala Idowu’s Facebook account to purchase the motorcycles.

According to Ojelabi, a more covert inquiry also resulted in the arrest of Ibrahim Idris, a 28-year-old motorbike technician.

Armed Police Officers

The statement read: “Following complaints from the Maboreje area, Ikirun, reported at Ikirun Police Area Command on 23rd December 2023 and 24th March 2024, respectively, that a TVS blue colour lady motorcycle with Reg. No. KNR 759 UM and a TVS with Reg. No. FNN 898 QE were stolen from the above-mentioned addresses. The Command continued with the investigation and, on 8th May 2025, upon a tip-off and intelligence-led operation, detectives attached to the CP’s Monitoring Unit arrested one Ajala Idowu, 40, and his elder brother, Ajala Maruf, 56, with one of the stolen motorcycles.

“They claimed to have bought the motorcycle on Facebook through Ajala Idowu’s account. Further discreet investigation led to the arrest of Ibrahim Idris, 28, a native of Ibadan, Oyo State, who is also a motorcycle mechanic.”

Ojelabi disclosed that the investigation has been concluded and the suspects have been charged in court
