Morayo Afolabi-Brown, a well-known media personality and television broadcaster, has shared the emotional reason for leaving Harvesters International Christian Centre years ago.
In a recent interview with Pastor Bolaji Idowu, Morayo disclosed that her departure from the church at the time was mostly due to heartbreak.
She claims that after a relationship ended, she was extremely saddened and found it challenging to stay at the same place of worship because she was continuously reminded of the traumatic event.
The TV host explained that her decision was driven more by emotional struggles than by any issue with the church itself. She admitted that dealing with the aftermath of the breakup affected her spiritually and emotionally, ultimately leading her to seek a fresh start elsewhere.
In retrospect, Morayo observed that, particularly when feelings are still raw, sadness can have a significant impact on people’s life choices. She also underlined how crucial it is to develop, heal, and find strength in God throughout trying times.

In August 2025, Morayo Afolabi-Brown opened up about her battle with depression and suicidal thoughts while working at TVC.
Brown, who recently resigned as host of TVC’s Your View after 12 years, disclosed in a candid interview with Chude that she became depressed because she felt stuck in her job.
She explained that she had long harboured thoughts of quitting and moving to the next level but did not know how to go about it until last year, when she began to gain clarity.
“I was depressed. At a point, I was suicidal. I walked on the express, hoping a car would hit me. It was that bad.
“It was when we [TVC] were ten years that I knew that it was time [for me] to go to the next thing. I have been harbouring that thought for a while but I didn’t know how to go about it. But last year, I got that light-bulb moment,” she explained.
