The Nigeria Governors Forum has commended President Bola Tinubu for establishing four new Army divisions across the country.
The Forum described the move as the largest single expansion of the Nigerian Army in modern history. It also praised the President’s approval for the recruitment of 28,000 new personnel and the acquisition of additional military assets.
According to the NGF, this development will significantly strengthen the government’s fight against terrorism and banditry.
The governors pledged full support for the President’s security agenda. They also called on Nigerians to assist security forces by providing timely and useful information to help curb criminal activities nationwide.
“We wholeheartedly welcome this development, including the president’s approval for the Army to hire 28,000 new personnel and acquire more critical military assets. We are confident that this initiative will enhance the government’s counterterrorism and anti-banditry efforts,” according to the statement.
“The Forum again urges citizens to continue to support government and security forces to strengthen security in every part of the country, including giving timely information to the security agencies,” the statement says.
