In Kogi State, 239 individuals have been taken into custody by the Nigerian police force on charges of kidnapping, rape, cultism, armed robbery, culpable homicide, and other offences.
CP Miller Dantawaye, the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, revealed this at his first news conference, which was held at the command headquarters in Lokoja.
The battle against crimes and criminalities is proceeding as planned, according to Dantawaye, who rejected the assertion that the Nigerian police force is already overburdened by the security situation in Kogi State.
“66 suspects were arrested for armed robbery, 75 for kidnapping, 18 for culpable homicide, 21 for unlawful possession of fire arms, 4 for rape, 6 for cultism, and 49 for other offences,” the Kogi State Commissioner of Police said, providing a summary of the command’s recent accomplishments in the ongoing campaign against criminal elements terrorising innocent people of Kogi State from February 2025 to date.

Five AK-47 weapons, two AK-49 rifles, nine magazines, 344 rounds of 7.62/39mm ammunition, 62 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, and two rounds of 7.62/59mm ammunition are among the exhibits found on the suspects.

Additional items found on the suspects include two pump-action guns, two locally produced pistols, nine spent AK cartridges, one (1) black pump-action magazine, one (1) revolver barrel gun, and seven (7) spent cartridges.
“These achievements were due to the proactive strategies rooted in intelligence-led policing and robust interaction with the various stakeholders of our communities, particularly in the area of information sharing, since it has become obvious that security is all stakeholders’ affairs,” he noted.
