After an intense schedule of over 30 consecutive days commissioning completed projects, flagging off new ones, and inspecting ongoing infrastructure works across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Minister Nyesom Wike has embarked on a vacation to recharge.
The announcement was made by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, who shared the update in a post on X on Monday. Olayinka emphasized that the minister had earned the break after weeks of nonstop activity across Abuja.
According to Olayinka, Wike not only commissioned projects but also reviewed several others, paying close attention to those slated for commissioning in December and January. His oversight ensured that timelines and standards were maintained across critical infrastructure developments.
“Holiday time for Nyerisi. He is somewhere in the world, relaxing after spending over 30 days, commissioning projects, flagging off new ones and inspecting ongoing ones, especially those scheduled for commissioning in December and January, next year,” Olayinka wrote.
Wike’s vacation underscores the balance between relentless work ethics and the need for rest. His decision to step back briefly reflects the importance of maintaining energy and focus for the demanding responsibilities of public office.
Appointed Minister of the FCT by President Bola Tinubu in August 2023, Wike has brought his trademark intensity to Abuja, much like his tenure as governor of Rivers State. His leadership style has been characterized by hands‑on supervision and visible project delivery.
As he takes time off, expectations remain high that Wike will return with renewed vigor to continue driving infrastructure growth and urban development in the nation’s capital, ensuring that Abuja remains a model city for Nigeria.
