Abubakar Malami, the former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, was visited by the African Democratic Congress’s (ADC) National Legal Support Team on Friday in his Abuja private office.
According to The Intercept, the visit was made in support of Malami after he recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the ADC.
Prior to the general elections in 2027, the delegation, which was led by M.E. Sheriff, Dr. Al’amin Muhammad, A.I. Garba, I.R. Abdullahi, and Saidu Yusuf, allegedly talked about internal legal frameworks and party strategy.
During the meeting, the team emphasized the need to strengthen legal institutions and promote political inclusion.

Malami, in a brief remark, appreciated the visit and reaffirmed his commitment to justice and national development.

He had on July 3 announced his resignation from the APC, citing dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of national security, the economy, and governance.
The meeting is seen as part of the ADC’s broader efforts to build momentum following a wave of high-profile defections.
