The Confederation of African Football, or CAF, has stated that it will look into how players and officials behaved on Sunday during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.
After two refereeing calls went against Senegal, the match between Senegal and the hosts, Morocco, in Rabat deteriorated into anarchy towards the conclusion.
After Ismaila Sarr’s goal was disallowed, the Atlas Lions were given a penalty, which Brahim Diaz ultimately failed to score.
However, the call caused Senegalese supporters to erupt in the stands, and coaches and players joined in.
Senegal coach, Pape Thiaw, then ordered his players off the field, before they were called back by Sadio Mané.
CAF said in a statement: “The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) condemns the unacceptable behaviour of some players and officials during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Final between Morocco and Senegal in Rabat last night.

“CAF strongly condemns any inappropriate behaviour which occurs during matches, especially those targeting the refereeing team or match organizers.
“CAF is reviewing all footage and will refer the matter to competent bodies for appropriate action to be taken against those found guilty.”
The Super Eagles of Nigeria made an incredible 12-place leap to 26th place in the most recent FIFA World Ranking, which was made public on Monday.
After an outstanding performance at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, when they finished third overall, the Nigerian national team rose from 38th.
After AFCON winners Senegal, who are ranked 12th in the world, and Morocco, who are ranked eighth, the Super Eagles are currently the third-best team in Africa.
Egypt is ranked fifth in Africa, whereas Algeria is ranked fourth.
In the meantime, the top ten teams in the world are Spain, Argentina, France, England, Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and Croatia.
