Chelsea is interested in bringing English and Manchester City defender John Stones to Stamford Bridge after splashing a reported £117 million to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.
The Blues have also strengthened their squad with the arrivals of Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP and Marco Palestra from Atalanta as they continue to reshape the team ahead of the new season.
The Blues are expected to remain active in the transfer market before the summer window closes, but any further arrivals will largely depend on the club’s ability to generate funds through player sales.
The Blues continue to operate under strict financial regulations, making outgoing transfers a key part of their recruitment strategy. Selling players not only helps balance the books but also creates room for new signings without breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and UEFA’s financial requirements.
So far, Chelsea have already raised around £140 million through the departures of Marc Cucurella, Andrey Santos, Tyrique George and Jimmy Jay-Morgan. The club also received compensation from Manchester City following Enzo Maresca’s return to the Etihad to take over as the Premier League champions’ new head coach.
Despite those deals, Chelsea’s transfer business is far from over. The club still has several players deemed surplus to requirements, with a number of academy graduates and fringe first-team stars expected to leave before the transfer window shuts on September 1.
Chelsea’s ambition is to push their total income from player sales beyond £300 million, matching the impressive figure they generated last summer. Achieving that target would strengthen their financial position while giving the club greater flexibility to complete additional signings before the deadline.
