Nigeria’s U-20 Women’s National Team have reached the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Poland 2026 after securing a convincing 3–0 victory over England this evening at Stadion Miejski in Bielsko-Biała, Poland.
The Falconets started brightly and took the lead early in the game, with Tosin Rafiu finding the back of the net in the seventh minute with a brilliant strike.
Nigeria held on to their advantage through the remainder of the first half, going into the break with a 1–0 lead.
The second half saw the Falconets extend their advantage as they continued to control proceedings. Janet Akekoromowei added Nigeria’s second goal before Tosin Mamudu completed the scoring to seal a 3–0 victory.
The win sends Nigeria into the quarter-finals of the competition, following their impressive progression from Group F.
Nigeria opened their campaign with a 2–0 defeat to Spain before playing out a goalless draw against China PR. They then produced one of the tournament’s biggest victories, thrashing New Caledonia 10–1 to finish second in Group F behind Spain. FIFA also recorded Nigeria’s 10–1 victory as a decisive result that secured their passage into the knockout phase.
Four days after that emphatic victory over New Caledonia, the Falconets have now followed it up with a 3–0 win over England to book their place among the final eight.
Nigeria will now turn their attention to the quarter-finals as their impressive World Cup campaign continues.
