Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi is enjoying a flying return to the Premier League, helping Hull City make it two wins from two to begin their campaign. The Nigerian centre-back has been instrumental at the heart of Hull City’s defence as the Tigers continue their impressive start to life back in the English top flight.
This evening, the Tigers defeated Coventry City, featuring Nigerian duo Taiwo Awoniyi and Frank Onyeka, by a slim 1-0 victory at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Liam Millar’s late strike made the difference, sealing all three points for the Tigers, who defeated Manchester United last week, with Semi Ajayi opening the scoring in that encounter. The victory takes Hull City’s points tally to six from two games.
For Hull City, Semi Ajayi played every minute of the game and finished with a 7.0 rating, the second-highest among Hull City players and the third-highest across both teams. His Nigerian brother, David Akintola, was not involved in the game today.
Taiwo Awoniyi, who scored for Coventry in the Carabao Cup days ago, also produced the second-best rating across both teams. The Nigerian striker posed enough threat but was unfortunate not to find the back of the net.His compatriot, Frank Onyeka, was unavailable for the game.
As things stand, Hull City go level on points with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table, with both sides sitting on six points after two games.
