The Super Falcons have reportedly been hit by a theft incident at their team hotel in Casablanca, Morocco, just days before the start of their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign.
In a 31-second video shared by renowned Nigerian sports journalist Pooja, several members of the Super Falcons were seen confronting hotel management over an alleged theft involving money missing from their rooms while they were away.
According to Pooja, a total of $1,220 was allegedly stolen from five players: Esther Okoronkwo, captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Osinachi Ohale, Joy Omewa and Halimatu Ayinde.
The reported losses are as follows:
– Esther Okoronkwo – $700
– Rasheedat Ajibade – $200
– Osinachi Ohale – $100
– Joy Omewa – $120
– Halimatu Ayinde – $100

The incident comes just days after the Super Falcons wrapped up their preparations for the tournament with a 2-1 victory over Tanzania in a friendly match. Esther Okoronkwo and captain Rasheedat Ajibade were on target as Nigeria fine-tuned preparations for a bid to win a record-extending 11th WAFCON title.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the Royal Moroccan Football Federation nor the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had issued an official statement on the alleged incident.
The Super Falcons will begin their quest for another continental crown against Malawi on Tuesday, July 28, at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.
