Burna Boy, Nigerian Afrobeats artist, has talked candidly about his conversion from Christianity to Islam, stating that he is still unsure of spiritual reality despite his theological research.
The Grammy-winning singer revealed in an interview with Plaqueboymax that he was brought up as a Christian merely because it was the faith of his parents and the setting in which he was raised.
Burna Boy claimed that after consciously choosing to accept Islam, he proceeded to study other religious beliefs in pursuit of a more profound comprehension. But he acknowledged that his search has yielded more questions than answers.
“Religion is a controlled mechanism. In all my research, there is always one scientific fact that goes against every book. Everything comes from the workshop of the sun,” he said.
“I am very spiritual. I believe we are creations. If we are creations, there must be a creator. Everyone is coming up with versions that are confusing me.

“That is what your parents believe in. That is what you are born into. I grew up as a Christian, but then I converted to Islam and all types. It is like I have studied it all. I am still out here trying to find what is really going on.
“The more I researched, the more confused I got. This is the problem. All I know is that the truth is there is something up there protecting me. That I am in tune with. That is why when I pray, I feel like I am being heard.”
Speaking during his 34th birthday party in Lagos in July, the singer explained that he was getting old and needed to start having children.
He stated that he decided after a conversation with oil magnate Jowizaza.
“Na so Jowizaza follow me talk the last time, I come dey think about my life. Omo, I don dey old oh, I for begin born pikins,” Burna Boy said in pidgin.
Burna Boy revealed in May last year that he wasn’t ready to have children yet, stressing that he can’t give them the attention they deserve.
The ‘Tatata’ hitmaker explained that he would have children when he was settled or married.
