Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has expressed her opinion that marriage is “overrated.”
The 42-year-old actress stated that while she is not actively seeking a second marriage, she is open to it.
In a recent interview with Naija FM Lagos, Jegede made this revelation.
“I am open to remarriage if it comes, but I am not looking for it. I have learnt not to say ‘never’,” she explained.
“I think marriage is overrated. A lot of people who dated for 10 to 15 years, got married and they broke up within 2 to 3 years. Sometimes, you wonder why such couples didn’t just remain unmarried. Because when they add the marriage tag, a lot of intolerance gets in the way.
“I think it is better to find who you love and just cohabit with them,” she added.
Yvonne Jegede’s marriage to her colleague, Olakunle Abounce Fawole, ended in 2019 after less than a year.
She cited financial imbalance and her ex-husband’s inability to handle or respect her as reasons for their separation.
Jegede also revealed in a previous interview that she was the primary provider and regretted choosing love over financial stability.

After Veekee James made comments about him, DeeOne disclosed this information.
In a recent appearance on the Unfiltered and Extra Spicy with Ify’s Kitchen podcast, the fashion designer called the comedian “unserious.”
She said “For someone like DeeOne, if you are a smart person, you will know that you cannot take him seriously. If you take him seriously then you are either jobless or something else. I have really not seen him say something serious.”
However, reacting to Veekee’s controversial remarks, DeeOne, who revealed they once had a romantic relationship in the past, noted that “this one na blast from the past.”
