Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, said that the recently finished All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primaries in Delta were the best-run since the party’s founding in the state.
While praising Senators Ifeanyi Okowa, Ede Dafinone, and Joel-Onowapo Thomas, the minister said that their victories were well-deserved.
A significant number of organic voters and members who cast ballots at the ward level participated in the primaries, according to Keyamo, who characterised the process as essentially free and fair.
The Minister, in a statement on Tuesday, stated: “Yesterday’s primaries saw a large turnout of the truly organic voters and members of the APC in Delta State voting at various Ward levels in an exercise that was largely free and fair.
“As a foundation member and leader of the APC in Delta and one of the first Senatorial Aspirants of the Party in the State in 2013, I can state unequivocally that this is the best primaries organised by the Party in the State since its inception.
Keyamo called for healing and reconciliation, urging aspirants who lost and won to come work together ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Now is a time for healing and reconciliation. I urge all those who have lost gallantly to take it on their chin and embrace the victors for the unity of the Party and ultimately for the victory of all our candidates at the general elections next year.
“I also urge the victors to be magnanimous in victory and extend hands of fellowship and brotherliness to the losers and accommodate them and their supporters within their structures, going forward. There is always strength in unity.”
Keyamo commended the Governor of Delta State; Sheriff Oborevwori, for providing purposeful leadership and running one of the most inclusive political systems ever witnessed in the State.

He also commended President Bola Tinubu for promoting internal democracy and allowing a free and fair process nationwide.
On the importance of grassroots politics, he stated: “Those who ignored local and grass-roots leaders and neither lobbied nor consulted them, but sought to get tickets from Abuja to impose themselves on the people have now been brought down from their high horses. This is a moment of sober reflection for them and time to join hands with others to truly build the Party from the grassroots”.
He called on APC members, admirers and supporters nationwide to stay strong, keep the faith and work hard ahead of the 2027 general elections.
