Nigeria’s electoral body, The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released significant data regarding the nation’s growing voter population.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that nearly 3.87 million Nigerians completed their registration during the final week of Phase III of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which concluded on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
This latest figure represents a substantial boost to the country’s electoral roll, as millions of eligible citizens have taken advantage of the registration window across all three phases of the exercise.
The first phase contributed approximately 2.57 million new registrants, while the second phase added another 3.75 million, demonstrating sustained public interest in participating in the upcoming electoral process.
When combined, the cumulative total of fresh registrations across all three phases now stands at an impressive 10,188,755.
This influx of new voters will be added to the existing pool of over 93 million registered Nigerians, significantly expanding the electorate ahead of the 2027 polls.
However, INEC has indicated that a mandatory de-duplication process will be conducted to remove multiple registrants and ensure the integrity of the final voter register.
The commission also noted that Osun State recorded no registrations during the period because the Continuous Voter Registration exercise was suspended ahead of the forthcoming governorship election, in line with Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022.
