Nigerian musician Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo, aka Kcee, has talked candidly about the enormous financial success of his hit song Limpopo, disclosing that ringback tones brought him a sizable sum of money.
In a recent interview, Kcee revealed this information while discussing one of his career’s pivotal moments.
According to Kcee, Limpopo was a huge commercial success that generated substantial income in addition to being a chart-topping song.
“Limpopo gave me a lot of money from ringback tones. We were making hundreds of thousands of dollars from it,” he said.
Kcee explained that during the peak of the song’s popularity, ringback tones were a dominant source of income for artists in Nigeria.
The musician and his team would consistently make money from fans who subscribed to have Limpopo play every time their phone line was called.

After its 2013 release, Limpopo swiftly rose to national prominence, taking over radio stations and nightclubs. Kcee’s status as one of the top musicians of that time was solidified by the song’s appealing lyrics and contagious beat.
Nigerian Afrobeats musician Davido has once again drawn public attention after sharing intimate details of his family life, emphasising his father’s modest means and his wife’s humility.
Davido recently disclosed that his wife treats everyone similarly, regardless of status, in order to maintain equality in their home.
Everyone in the household, even the employees, eats the same meal without any kind of segregation, according to Davido.
