The All Progressives Congress, or APC, has demanded that the current by-election in the Shanono-Bagwai constituency be cancelled and that the election in the Ghari constituency in Kano State be repeated.
Felix Morka, the national publicity secretary for the APC, called for the action in a statement on Saturday, claiming that armed thugs had disrupted the exercise and caused widespread violence at multiple voting places.
He said that the attacks overwhelmed security forces stationed in the impacted areas, forcing voters to evacuate polling places.
According to him, the situation makes the conduct of a credible election impossible.
