American rapper Nicki Minaj has said certain influential musicians make gifted musicians “almost invisible” if they don’t follow their standards.
She refused to identify such individuals, but she asserted that they were responsible for the majority of the difficulties she and other gifted musicians have in the music business.
Minaj claimed in a recent episode of The Bryce Crawford Podcast that those influential musicians treat musicians like “properties” in order to profit from them and undermine others who don’t work for them.
The rapper claimed that because she didn’t follow the norms set by influential people in the music business, she was subjected to “constant spiritual warfare.”
Minaj said if she had known that the music industry was deeply spiritual, she would have come better prepared.

“It was constant spiritual warfare. I wish I kind of knew sooner that this music industry was such a spiritual experience because I felt like I brought a knife to a gunfight,” she said.

In April 2025, Billboard released its staff list of the 25 greatest female rappers of all time, naming Nicki Minaj as the most iconic rapper of all time.
